Biography

Trevor Ashcraft, a native of Holton, previously served as the USD 380 Curriculum Director and Vermilion Principal, a role he held for 5 years. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Elementary Education endorsement from West Texas A&M University along with two Master's Degrees from Fort Hays State University in the areas of Reading Specialist and Educational Administration, and Superintendent endorsement also from Fort Hays.

In his tenure, Ashcraft established and facilitated Professional Learning Communities, facilitated several textbook adoptions, led the district’s KESA Accreditation Team, and has been instrumental in the redesign of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. He led the implementation of social-emotional screeners and curricula and improved the Kindergarten Readiness process assisting staff with enhancing phonemic awareness and early numeracy instruction.

Ashcraft assisted the Board of Education with creating and implementing a five-year Strategic Plan. Under this plan, he was pivotal in long-range planning, including forming community and business partnerships that improve student learning opportunities with local business. Aligned to the Strategic Plan, he also designed a process for individualizing staff learning plans through a Personalized Professional Development process.

Ashcraft currently serves on the Kansas Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (KASCD) board of directors, was a participant of the 2021-22 Kansas Association of School Boards’ BOLD learning cohort, and serves on the Accreditation Review Council through the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE). He will also service as a United School Administrators-Kansas (USA-Kansas) Elevate Leadership Facilitator in the 2022-23 school year leading administrators across the state of Kansas through a year of learning to enhance their leadership abilities.

In the community, Ashcraft serves as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees for the Bucks Grove-Circleville Group Ministries and remains a strong advocate for 4-H/FFA and Farm Bureau. In his free time, he assists his parents on the family farm west of Holton and trains Australian Shepherds.

HARBOR

In February of 2022, Trevor brought Harbor, a blue merle Australia Shepherd into the fold. Although adorable, he lovingly refers to her as a tiny monster due to her very strong will and boundless energy for play. She enjoys terrorizing his parents dogs, chewing on any and all toys, and going for long rides in the truck, side-by-side, or any other motorized vehicle.
